Hi, I'm Qu. How do you do?
Born and raised in Toronto and now based in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Qu is a multi-instrumentalist whose performances are rooted in community connection and creative expression. Known for his "Modern Folk Songs," Qu reimagines timeless tunes with a contemporary spirit, blending the familiar warmth of folk with the rich textures of world instruments and storytelling.
â
A skilled craftsman as well as a musician, Qu studied fine carpentry with a luthier and built his main guitar under the mentorship of master luthier Sergei de Jonge in Chelsea, Quebec. His artistry extends beyond sound — it’s a way of building harmony, both musically and socially.
â
After years of performing across markets, retreats, and community events, Qu realized the most meaningful moments weren’t just songs — they were shared states of calm and celebration. Blending North American flutes, steel drum, guitar, and narrative, he began shaping his sets as invitations into “music as medicine”: spaces where people could breathe deeper, move freely, and reconnect with one another.
